After successfully initiating development teams in the 2017 series, Cycling South Australia is pleased to announce that we will be running these teams again in 2018.
The Development teams dominated the series, taking out the overall classification for both Men and Women. Harry Askew (Kilkenny CC) was dominant in the Cat 2 Men, taking the overall victory, the young riders classification and the sprint classification. It’s no surprise that we see him moving up to the Elite Ranks with Chesser Cycling Team (Formerly McNeils Logistics). State Development Red went on to finish the series in second place overall.
But it wasn’t just the mens development team which did big things. Hannah Seeliger (also KCC) took out the Cat 2 Womens competition whilst also taking the young riders class. Seeliger has continued her trajectory in the sport, signing with Butterfields-Blackchrome p/b Van D’am Racing for the 2018 season. But it wasn’t all about Seeliger, as the team as a whole took out the series, almost 50 points clear of their nearest rivals.
But it’s not all about winning. The objuective of the teams is to let riders coming through the sport ride in a team environment with riders of a similar age.
As a development team, the focus will be on riders who are U19 or first or second year u23. If this is you, and you are interested in racing the series, please fill out the form through the link. You will need to have a race licence to be eligible.
Once interest has been determined CSA will determine pricing and selections.

2018 Support Staff
Think you have the tactical nouse of Gene Bates or Luke Roberts, but never had a team to implement? Well here’s your chance! CSA is looking for support staff to help the riders get the most out of the series. This is a volunteer position, and they will need a current CA licence and a DCSI working with children check.
