With teams across almost every category, you will be sure to spot the famous red USG cycling kit throughout the 2019 Super Series. After already introducing their women’s team, their mens rosters have been finalised with both squads set to push strongly for the overall title in their respective grades.
The elite mens category 1 USG team comes into the series with a number of key cards to play and an extremely well rounded team with a mixture of experience as well as youth. Leading the charge is multiple cyclocross national champion Chris Jongerwaard who will look to put his off road skills to good use during the round 3 Wallaroo Road Race which features a number of key gravel sections.
Curtis Dowdell and Shaun Cash both have National Road Series experience and will no doubt play aggressive roles during the criteriums to keep the bunch well strung out. Angus Maddern is likely to be the designated sprinter for the team and will no doubt be amongst it towards the pointy end of the bunch finishes.
Rounding out the rest of the mens category 1 squad is Leo Simmonds, Jay Callaghan, Matt Hutchison and Matt Sparnon.
With representation in both the elite men’s and women’s series, USG haven’t stopped there with a masters category two team. The corporate and government IT service provider has stepped up it’s commitment to developing the Adelaide racing scene and it has seen the team grow rapidly.
Roger Welch, Steve Sturm, Phil Bray, Jason Rowland, Sam Jefferies, Todd Whitehill, Matthew Shuttleworth and Wayne Edwards make up the team with the goal to be present throughout the series as well as support their key riders.
Both teams will be decked out in Ventou clothing and Vittoria tyres making their equipment choices easy for the wide range of surfaces the super series throws at riders. Be sure to keep an eye on their facebook page for all the latest updates throughout the series.
