MISCHIEF BREW POINTS RACE
Kicking off the CSA Super Series for 2019 is the now-traditional first round Vic Park crit - but with a twist! A great opportunity to blow out the cobwebs of a winter spent indoors and get back in a racing frame of mind.
While it seems novel to have a Points Race on a Criterium course and not on the Track, it's guaranteed to make life difficult for Team Managers as they try to work out how to best play their cards in an unfamiliar race format. Some might target early sprints in order to get some points on the board, others might hope that the younger teams might tire themselves out, leaving room for the more experienced teams to clean up in the last few sprints. It will be interesting to see if the peloton allows a break to get away, and for how long before they decide enough is enough. 10 laps out the front by yourself, timed properly, could be enough to win the race if a few other sprints go your way!
